Medical Staff

Physicians applying to the Embassy Medical Center should adhere to meet rigorous standards for:

  • Clinical care
  • Patient safety
  • Professional behavior
  • Continuous medical education

A US based hospital manager will be based in Colombo full time for the year before and after the opening of the Medical Center. Teams of UK and US physicians, nurses and managers will be engaged through UK and US hospital companies to develop all policies and procedure manuals for each clinical and administrative department and service line.

Group Operating Structure

The Group’s Operating Structure is primarily the service of Medical care. The core area could be categorized in to two parts consisting of Regional Family Care and International Patient Care.

  • Regional Family Care - This concept focuses on a particular market segment that caters to families in Sri Lanka and the South Asian region. The facility would focus on certain areas such as children’s pediatrics, and housing available for the families of patients.
  • International Patient Care - International patient care is ultimately to generate significant revenues. Its target market will attract patients from around the world including Europe and Australia. The concept “Medical Tourism” is where consum- ers travel long distances for medical treatment, where the market is expected to grow rapidly for the next 30 years.

The stage is set for Sri Lanka to take a quantum leap to the level of sophistication offered by the EMC, especially in the backdrop of the country’s rapid rate of expan- sion from macro economic factors such as increases in population and a growing balance in economic growth.

The Embassy Medical Center is designed by an American architecture firm; will have American management, with direct affiliations with respected medical facilities and experts in U.S.A and U.K. The medical center will provide healthcare services that were once a commodity available only to those Sri Lankans who had the where- withal to travel overseas for treatment. Access to these modern services will help stem the outflow of hard earned Sri Lankan Rupees to overseas medical institutions, and thereby strengthen the development of the nation as a whole.
